There is no reliable solution to trade between players. You can only give something and hope that you get something in return.

It would be much better if there was an extra trade button. When you click on the trade button, a trade window opens for you and the next player. There you can drag things in from the inventory and specify the quantity and both players can see it. Only when both have confirmed using an extra confirm button will both players be asked whether the trade should be carried out in this way. If both confirm this query, the trade will be completed otherwise it will be canceled. This way you can safely trade items between players
