[ossia-max] ossia should be downloaded through the max package-manager
I was waiting to be sure that it was robust enough... but yes
I was waiting to be sure that it was robust enough... but yes
starts to look good, doesn't it ?
well, I guess @jln- has the final decision on that one
maybe @matcham ’s opinion could be useful, too…
IIRC, there are still a few “release-critical” issues, I don’t know how critical they are, and if we should hold the release because of them
and… there’s the Overdrive issue, which we should look into some day (maybe as a part of the Canada project ?) - what should we do in the meantime ? put a disclaimer/warning of some kind in the overview, in the Package Manager page, and probably in other very visible places (ossia.parameter.maxhelp)
opinions ?
I really think the Overdrive issue is THE big problem... If you say "Ossia-Max is not compatible with overdrive" .. half of Max users will just run away !
half of Max users will just run away !
or they will wait until it's done, if it's properly announced... no ?
is this only in ossia.parameter that we need this implemented ? like, it doesn't really matter in ossia.remote, or does it ? (ie for middle, non-deferred outlet) let's figure out what the problem is, and then we can find how we can possibly solve it
For me the override problem is due to the first ("deferred") outlet of the ossia.remote objects. In one of my project I got a lot of CPU usage and crash due to the use of ossia.remote with continuous data, because of the defer process. The ossia.remote will defer the outlet even if the outlet is not used. In my case I solved it using setting the "deferset" attribute to 0.
here is the simplest example I could find to reproduce the overdrive crash : no remote, just a parameter connected to a jit.matrix + jit.gen

hope this can help
thanks @blueyeti @matcham ... hopefully it's something simple that we overlooked.
not sure that helps, but this doesn’t crash
did you only have those problems with jitter objects ?
I might be wrong, but isn’t it safer to defer messages to jit.objects ? though, I tried with jit.qball… and it didn’t crash… and then it crashed (well, I had the deadly pizza of death, and force quit)

well, I guess @jln- has the final decision on that one
Sorry, I was out last week working in a residency with not up to date version of ossia-max. I'll update to last version in the coming weeks and check if issues labelled release-critical still stand.
That being said, I'm still a bit reluctant releasing in the package manager with ossia crashing because of overdrive. Not ideal communication-wise.
And anyway, we assume here that Cycling would be OK to offer ossia-max through the package manager with that bug which is not certain at all.
