CSM Attitude Set Control Panel roll display error

Open indy91 opened this issue 9 years ago • 3 comments

The roll indication can be wrong under certain circumstances. Scrolling down from 1° to 359° the indication doesn't go from 0 to 359 in all digits. The middle digit shows a 6 instead of a 0, as if it wants to display 360° instead of 0°.

@jalexb88 This was the issue I mentioned the other day. I'm not sure if this can then also happen in the VC with the current system.

Bumping this, happens in yaw as well and in VC. Also we noticed the ASCP counts the wrong direction.

A few other obervations:

  • The hundreds wheel has multiple 3s (as seen in the above link) and also multiple 0s. This makes me think that the rotation of all of the wheels is continuous (like the hour hand on a clock, as minutes progress) rather than individual/discrete steps. image
  • As a result, I think it is most likely that the center wheel actually has multiple sets of digits, and is numbered 012345678901234567890123456789012345 (so at one point on the wheel, there is an adjacent 5 and 0).
  • The ACSP is actually designed to be read from above, rather than straight on. The optimal viewing angle is 45 degrees above horizontal. This isn't easily represented on the 2D panel, but it's something we could model correctly in VC. image
