Device over network documentation/support?
The femto devices are marketed as having ethernet support as well as uvc, but I'm struggling to find any information on it;
- Which platforms does the sdk support for network access?
- What format is the data flying over the network?
- I'm seeing macos not being supported in the past, but not going forward? but that seems to be specifically for uvc?
- Is the network data platform agnostic?
I'm trying to establish if any of your devices are able to replace my current setup of kinect+jetson to stream depth data over network to an platform agnostic end point, but your documentation/tutorials/readme are lacking on gritty details :)
Femto do not support network connectivity, and I understand that you are referring to the Femto Mega.
Since the Orbbec SDK is a general-purpose SDK designed for various Orbbec camera models, our documentation does not provide detailed instructions specific to individual camera models. If you require information on the usage of a specific camera model, we recommend contacting our after-sales department for relevant information. We will enhance the Orbbec SDK documentation in the future by adding links to detailed instructional documents for each camera model.
Regarding the Orbbec SDK itself, we strive to maintain consistency in terms of Ethernet and USB. This means that if your device supports both USB and Ethernet connectivity without any specific instructions, the compatibility platform, supported data formats, usage procedures, etc., will remain consistent with USB. Additionally, the data format is independent of communication methods and system platforms.
For Mac OS, currently we have only adapted a few specific camera models. Other cameras are theoretically supported but have not been tested and verified. The plan for Mac OS version is evaluated by our product team, and I will post your question to them.
