Input/output issues using KDE on arch

Open alanAlphaPi opened this issue 8 months ago • 3 comments

I'm trying to use plover 5.0.0 with a usb qwerty keyboard without success in KDE Plasma on archlinux. The plover application successfully starts and opens the gui when I execute the AppImage from the terminal and doing things like accessing the plugins manager from the interface works without issue. Plover indicates that it is connected to a keyboard machine and enabling steno output changes the appearance of the tray icon, but no steno output occurs upon use of the keyboard.

I've tried installing and enabling plover-uinput in case this was an issue with wayland, which didn't change the lack of steno output. The plover debug log itself has not made any problems with the application known to me. I've also tried physically disconnecting the keyboard from the machine, in which case the application still indicates a keyboard is connected, even after refreshing the connection status.

I'm having similar issues using Plover 4.0.3 and plover-uinput on Hyprland on arch. Plover still shows that the keyboard is connected even if it's physically not attached to the machine. If it helps, I'm using a Surface Pro 9 with the linux-surface kernel.

Can confirm the issue (Arch Linux, Hyprland, Plover 4.0.3 AppImage) with the Keyboard machine.

Though I managed to configure my QMK firmware on my keyboard to output GeminiPR "keycodes", and Plover appears to work just fine under GeminiPR machine.

Sadly I don't have an arch setup to test this. You might want to check out existing threads in our plover-tech-support channel on the Plover Discord, and, if you don't find anything helpful, open a new thread. There's more people over there that might be able to help.
