IMB-MPI1 crashes with gnu8

The new openmpi stack from the 1.3.6 stack fails in the gnu8 variant with my simple test case, a prun IMB-MPI1 on 16 nodes. It is working fine with the Intel 2019 compiler. The older gnu7 version isn't crashing either.
