Provide a way to flag crops as duplicates
#106 I think was done for site admins and so forth; but as a non admin user it'd be nice to indicate some kind of problem.
Specifically things like: https://openfarm.cc/en/en/crop_search?q=Cucurbita+pepo
The majority of those are just aliases, and the bionomial name should be a strong indicator for consolidation.
I don't think #106 was ever actually implemented. We moved things to Loomio but I don't think anyone cared about that (downside of spreading across different platforms).
I agree that flagging those kinds of crops would be a good idea. How do you see that happening?
Whenever I am on OF editing crop info/adding photos/etc I usually find duplicates and fix/cleanup stuff. It's not too difficult, but there are a lot of them and it gets tedious quickly. I think if we invite people to flag duplicates then we should first have a way for admins to quickly/easily merge crops.
As far as the flagging feature, I think we could have a flag dropdown on all crop pages that gives the users a few flagging options:
- Inappropriate
- Duplicate
- Inaccurate
- Needs photos
- Needs description
Admins could have extra options:
- Remove flags (after review)
- Flag as featured crop (for the homepage hero images mentioned in #724)
