ONLP Operation and Usage

Hello! I have recently installed Open Network Linux on a Dell S4048-ON Bare Metal Switch and I learned about the ONLP APIs for managing the switch peripherals. However I cannot seem to understand how to write and compile my own packages using the said APIs. It would be great if anyone could guide me on the process to do this or provide some resources on how to compile my own code on the ONL source code. I have a reasonable understanding of the ONLP API code structure and am working on how the various Makefiles are linked. Other than that, I am completely new to Open Network Linux and I am currently struggling with this issue. Thanks!
