*Open file pool in file manager* button doesn't open __pool__ folder
The Open file pool in file manager button in the File pool Window doesn't open the __pool__ folder.
The files in the __pool__ folder are shown in the File pool Window and are usable throughout the experiment. So it's just that the Open file pool in file manager button opens some temporary folder. This can be confusing and can cause inconsistencies between the 2 pool folders.
The temporary folder is the file pool. That is, if you add a file to the file pool in OpenSesame, it will be copied to this temporary folder; and when you save the experiment, this temporary folder will be compressed and saved.
But I see your confusion. The __pool__ folder is kind of a fallback location, where OpenSesame looks if a file is not found in the real file pool. So there's a risk of confusion here.
I don't want to change the function of the browse button. But I do agree that it can be made clearer. Do you have any suggestions?
Maybe a message saying something like "We advice to either use the normal file pool or the directory __pool__". This could be shown at the bottom of the File pool Window if the __pool__ folder is detected. Just like the message in the Variable inspector Window about runners now:
