Lastest iOS upgrade freeze

Open jgwill opened this issue 5 months ago • 7 comments

I reported that to Apple on Pythonista :

the latest iOS upgrade, the app freezes and don't work anymore. Though, we are capable to run scripts from the iOS Shortcuts (which implies some core functionality aspects works on the background). I will report directly also to "OMZ:Software" but you might have to look in the current iOS if you are not responsible of this decrease in quality.
  • I was wondering if anyone experimenting the same issues (iPad tested for now, haven't tested on my iPhone). I just can't do anything in the UI and as stated above, I am capable to run scripts from the iOS Shortcuts

My best regards, (haha, really hope this is not the end of Pythonista in my digital world, that would be an immense grieving, haha)

I'm sorry this happened! :(

Have you tried launching the app in "Safe Mode" (can be enabled from the Settings app under Apps > Pythonista)?

Is this IOS 18.6.2 , or a pre-release of ios26?

The former is still working ok on my system. It is possible that it’s a module “gone bad” (TM) If so . Ole’s suggestion of using Safe Mode will get you back in to Pythonista.

To recover a bad file, copy it to Cloud by dragging from Pythonista using Files. Open the file using quicklook in Files, then copy and paste into new, empty Pythonista module. This has always fixed the problem. I haven’t a clue why a file should “go bad”

If the system is ios26, then Ole will presumably keep watch.

Agreed. Pythonista from FlightTest seems to work as expected on iOS 26 and on macOS 26.

Pythonista seems to work fine under iPadOS 26. It is very nice that we can now run a script and simultaneously do something else. At last.
