Real-time coverage grid stops updating in Kongsberg SIS
On extensive multi-day surveys, it seems that SIS (both SIS4 and SIS5) almost always gets to a point where it will stop updating the real-time coverage grid. Our solution so far has been to restart SIS, and when it starts failing daily, start a new SIS project. Are there any other solutions or workarounds for this issue?

I find that the grid starts getting bogged down when transiting across multiple UTM Zones, so I typically do new projects when crossing UTM Zones. I haven't seen the issue where it crashes with a grid within one zone though - frustrating!
@ejheffron before you go to the level of restarting SIS, do you first try Tools>Restart HDDS? This is the process that generates the grid and provides related depth data to numerical display and seabed image, etc.
If that does not work, do you then try "restart sis interface"? It is found both in the Tools menu and as a shortcut on the desktop. Errors prompting the user to restart the GUI are typically aligned with geographic display issues.
I agree with Shannon, crossing an ocean is typically not too friendly, so it can definitely be helpful to create a new survey in a new zone. Note, I did not do this on Surveyor when we transited across the Pacific, and I did not observe gridding issues. We would have had 5.10.1 or higher installed at the time.
The next option is to import the kmall files with the Tools > KMAll importer function. You can elect to delete the pdgp files, which just reduces unnecessary data volume. This will essentially recreate the SIS grid from the kmall data. The logging of the data and generation of the grid are two different processes, so one should not affect the other. Once imported, go to File > Import terrain model and select the corresponding grid folder (which you set in the importer). That should help fill any 'gaps' in the grid.
