No connection
I think this may be related to the "consent.google.com" page appearing when looking up the URL the software generates to parse the data from. Too bad I've no clue what I'm doing and cannot fix this :/

I would also love an alternative for this. there's PotPlayer, but it doesn't have any language learning mechanism, like hovering over words and such things like that, which is annoying.

Well, I'm not looking for anything browser-related or something. I need something for media players, for TV shows and movies, srt files really. Not YouTube or Netflix.
I've got that - same here. But I have not found none player with language learning mechanism for local media files :/
I'm working on something similar for myself but its prob. a few weeks to months from being publicly releasable if somebody wants to test the prototype feel free to send me an email.
It doesn't translate words but instead, it shows dictionary definitions of a word when you hover over it. It's using en.wiktionary.org for that so... it won't be perfect but it should be good enough for most of the major languages. (but the prototype works only with Latin alphabet for now)
