IPX modifier background color does not work

I have some transparent PNG images that I am trying to convert to WEBP with a background color in my Nuxt 3 project. All modifiers but "background" work as expected. The generated url reflects the appropriate modifiers "/_ipx/w_960&f_webp&b_d4bc40/pages/afiliate/afiliate_1_d4bc40.png". I remember having the same issue in Nuxt 2 and ended up coding my own sharp plugin. Any clues?
