MPC HC is confused with MPC BE
Media Player Classic Home Cinema (development discontinued in july 2017) is confused with Media Player Classic Black Edition (a fork that's still getting some updates).

the problem here is that words with less than 3 letters are not used for the search for the better package name.
Oh sorry, I didn't talk about the search, but the update.
I have MPC-BE installed but get offered an update for MPC-HC.
I understand. This is how the detection works. First the package name will be something generic like "control-panel.MPC_BE" and then a search is performed for "mpc" to find a better package in the repository.
