Notepad++ Theme keeps getting reset every time

Description of the Issue

My Notepad++ theme keeps getting reset upon opening NPP+ up. I noticed this first happened when attempting to save a file that had write protection, and it asked me to restart it in Administrator mode. Following this, I clicked 'Yes' and restareted in Admin mode... following that, I lost my theme and it reverted to the normal light mode.

Afterwards, I set NPP to Dark Mode in the settings, saved and quit. Afterwards, I started NPP again to edit a file, and it was once again in light mode. My themes are gone, and every time I restart NPP dark mode is gone, too.

Steps To Reproduce

1. Have a custom theme on your Notepad++
2. Try to edit a protected file
3. Restart Notepad++ in Administrator mode when prompted
4. You should your custom themed colors/layout.
5. Set NPP into Dark Mode.
6. Close Notepad++ and open it again
7. Dark Mode is no longer enabled

Current Behavior

Notepad++ is losing my theme settings when closing and restarting it.

Expected Behavior

Notepad++ retains my themed colors and layout as well as Dark Mode preferences.

This issue seems to have begun with the latest update to Notepad++ which is as of writing this bug report, is v.8.6.5 (64-bit)

I've updated to latest 8.7.5 and it started to behave as described - Switch to Administrator mode - openes with theme reset.. then opens in normal mode with all your settings gone...

It just happened to me today. It wrongly opened with the default theme and then showed the "An update package is available" message, in case that it's relevant.
