Touch Display 2 support

Open wjakobczyk opened this issue 3 months ago • 8 comments

Apparently Raspberry Touch Display 2 is not supported, at least it doesn't boot for me. I mean this one: https://www.raspberrypi.com/documentation/accessories/touch-display-2.html#specifications

Would it be a lot of work to add support for it? I can help, with some guidance...

That's right, I've been working with the V1 so far. I don't have V2 yet. But I'll definitely try to make it work. I'm currently working on the next release, I will try to get it in. May I ask which raspi version you have?

I'm using RP 4B.

FWIW piejam.log is empty after waiting a few minutes, but that might be because I have no way to shut the system down gracefully. (I don't have a serial-usb adapter at hand, will get to the serial console next week when I get one, assuming it's available?)

There are no drivers for touchdisplay V2 in the kernel, therefore you won't see anything. You can use a mouse and hdmi display in the meantime.

I have now a touchdisplay V2. I will start on support then. But only for pi4/5 for now. Release will come soon.

Release is out: https://github.com/nooploop/piejam_os/releases/tag/v0.11.0

Sadly i noticed a small issue in the last minute. Cascaded menus are a bit buggy when the screen rotation is used, which you probably want to use with V2 display, because it's in portrait mode by default.

Thanks I will install it in a few days...

The display is now working ok, not sure what's the menu issue is, yet, but then I guess it's not a big deal :)
