Missing installation file

the installation text mentions the file coldfire_v1.10.XX.XX.xpi in the Firefox folder but there is no such file. is it needed?

It sounds like you may have the source code, not the packaged distribution. When you go to the downloads page be sure to select a package under "Download Packages."
