Feature Request: Auto-SMS and UI Indicator for SMB On/Off

Open gerison77 opened this issue 4 months ago • 1 comments

In the current AndroidAPS dev version, SMBs can be turned ON or OFF automatically through automations. This is a great new feature but creates a communication gap in Master/Client setups or when caregivers are involved.

Right now, it’s possible to add an SMS command manually inside an automation to inform about SMB changes. But this is quite error-prone — it depends on correct settings and can easily be forgotten. Because of that, the SMS notification should be built in and sent automatically when SMBs are switched ON or OFF.

In one real situation, SMBs were turned OFF by automation, but no SMS was sent. The caregiver didn’t notice, skipped sports, ate instead, and thought SMBs were still on, which led to bad glucose results.

Missing this information isn’t just inconvenient — it can affect safety. Reliable info about SMB status is important, especially when plans or care situations change.

Suggestion: Send an automatic SMS whenever SMBs are turned ON or OFF, and add a small icon or status indicator in the UI to show if SMBs are active.

Note: There is already an issue for SMS Commands (#4174). This one is about having automatic SMS with the SMB status when automations toggle SMBs in the dev version, or triggered via (future) SMS Command.

UI indicator for SMB on/off would be an important feature👍

My use case: using automation to switch on/off from Watch tile. But as is now there is no feedback. In addition UI indicator helps me remind on SMB status without the need to open the UI settings.
