I saw the issue with same problem, where it was fixed by turning off AdGuard, which did not work out for me
Does the Endless loading screen always happen when you sign in? Does the issue with the missing notifications only happen when there was the Endless loading screen or do you have the feeling it's unrelated?
The endless loading screen always happens, when i try to sign in on my phone (on which i do not get notifications). I signed in on another phone once, where the endless loading screen does not occur, there i got notifications. Therefore i guess that the loading screen and no notifications are somehow related
Make sure Google FCM is not blocked by your firewall. Also delete app data and login again (this fixes the issue for me).
It seems like Google FCM is not blocked and deleting app data does not work unfortunatly
Hi, in the administration settings, under the "Discussion" tab, there is an option called "Default Notification Settings." You need to set it to "All Messages." Have you done that?
I have the same issue and came here to report. I also cannot add a second nextcloud account to Talk. Diagnosis details below.
It may also be relevant to note that my phone has no Google apps on it. I am using MicroG on LineageOS.
I would love to get this working. Please let me know how to further diagnose and/or help.
Thank you.

Have the exact same issue on a Fairphone with Murena e/os (no Google Apps installed). Are there any plans to fix this, since this issue was removed from 21.0.0 milestone?
I have since switched phones buy am still on a degoogled OS and have the same issues. I'll be honest, it's disheartening to be committed to open source software only to realize how reliant it is on the existing corporate infrastructure. I don't mean that to be confrontational or offensive, but just a sharing of my experience.
Here is my current system diagnostic info. As before, I'm using MicroG, but now on VollaOS.

Okay, i've found a solution. You need to Install the Talk Version for/from Play Store. Notifications don't Work with the F-Droid Version though.
Not the best solution I guess, but now it works and we can finally use the App.
