Which Nextcloud Version are you currently using: (see administration page)

As a Nextcloud Talk user, I archive lots of conversations that are currently not relevant. When such conversation becomes active again, because someone messaged me, and I respond, the conversation is still shown in archive.

Automatically move a conversation back to the regular list.

We discussed various options, but did not manage to find a consent within the team and the behaviour is also not very consistent across all other messengers. So for now we will not automatically unarchive.

Maybe giving the user the ability to choose the behavior of archive in users own settings would be a solution to give everyone their own preferences.

I archive settings there could be:

  • unarchive when receiving a mention
  • unarchive when I write something
  • leave archived

For example telegram does how follow:

  • If chat is silenced and archived, it won't pop in list even if mentioned
  • if chat is not silenced, if anyone mention you, it pops back to normal chat list, but not if nobody is replying or mentioning you.

Apparently it's based on how user had set the notifications to that chat.
