Question: Any requirement for the photos filesystem layout?

Sorry, not a bug, basically a question and I could not find a better place. Please let me know if this is not the right channel for that.

My photos are stored locally in a NAS server with a specific layout: /mnt/nas/Pictures/Darktable/<year>/<month>/<day>/<YYYY><MM><DD>_<SERIAL>.<EXTENSION>.

I use Darktable to edit and organize my photos, but I'm considering using nextcloud/photos to share albums over Internet and sync with my family's phones.

Is there any hard requirement in place that would force me to change this layout? Will new images uploaded via nextcloud follow the same pattern ?
