Description

Currently I find no information on how the service is integrated in the browser. I have everything set up on my nextcloud instance and I have imported my passwords from Firefox. However I have no idea on how the addon is meant to be used and I can't find instructions for it anywhere. Here are just a few of the things confusing me:

  1. Whenever a password field is automatically filled out, is that from Firefox's vault or Passman?
  2. When a new password is entered, I don't get asked by Passman if it should be saved. Is automatically integrated with Firefox's password system so that if I click "update password" is that updated in Passman as well?
  3. When I click the passman icon in the Firefox toolbar I see all login information saved for the site. But I can't click it to autofill it, or even view password (without editing).

Benefit / value

Having documentation for this would help new users that aren't familiar with the system to start using it and benefit from it way quicker.

Risk / caveats

No risks.

  1. Disable Firefox's vault and re-test to confirm. I would figure it is assumed the FF vault would be disabled if one is using another service to serve the same purpose. The documentation for the extension sure implies that any browser's credential vault should be disabled: https://github.com/nextcloud/passman-webextension/wiki/Disabling-your-browser-password-manager
  2. It's not perfect, but if I create an account on a website, Passman will often prompt to save it, and will.
  3. I'm with you on this one. Some features need to be added to make this part of the experience better.
