Redesign note details
Currently the options menu of a note is quite cluttered, what makes it hard to distinguish between the various entries and spreads meta information across different menus.
The idea is to design on unified dialog which covers
- Title
- Category
- Favorite
- Share
- Pin to homescreen
- Word / character count (#1087)
- (optionally in the future, because this is a harder task: ) Moving across accounts
We can also add the sometimes requested modified date to this view, since we now have more space in a place which will not clutter the UI with information that might not be interesting for the majority of the users and also get some more space for new content related features like an outline in the options menu.

Maybe a bottom sheet would be another design approach?
I'm not entirely sure if that helps reduce the clutter, or how one would put the EditTexts in there. This simple version would put icons to all actions, maybe that helps a bit to recognise the actions. Or something like this with a row of actions at the top (share, favourite, pin) and the others in rows below?
Nice mockup @stefan-niedermann and good point with the bottom sheet @thgoebel – that would solve a few issues I can see with the mockup at the moment:
- The icons (pin, share and favorite) could have text and be more obvious to non-regulars).
- We can just show an action for "Rename" instead of a permanent input field for the title – because renaming doesn’t happen so often.
- For categories, we don’t need to show all the categories all the time. Rather it would show the current category (if set) and then a means of selection if the action is tapped.
- Last modified could even show in the header of that bottom sheet, in grey below the current title?
