Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. Currently, when having multiple videos in a folder, you can't swipe to the next or previous video. You have to close the video, find the position of the previously watched video and then click on the next / previous video.

Describe the solution you'd like Just like with images, I'd like to be able to swipe left/right to watch the previous/next video.

Describe alternatives you've considered Like mentioned above, I could simply close the video and click on another video in the list.

Thank you for opening this feature request!

We've also experienced this internally and have some notes to share about this issue.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Set up Nextcloud app as normal
  2. Have at least one image and one video file uploaded
  3. Open Media tab using navigation drawer

Expected behaviour

  • Open image or video preview
    • Swiping left or right allows one to preview remaining files
    • Similar to common gallery apps (e.g. Google Photos, etc.)

Actual behaviour

  • Open image preview
    • Swipe left or right allows one to see remaining image and video files
  • Open video preview
    • Swiping left or right doesn't work

Technical Details

Since #12161 was opened, the media player has been reworked substantially. Especially how we handle media (excl. images) playback using the PreviewImageActivity has changed to accommodate better a better and more up-to-date UI/UX.

The original idea was to use the PreviewImageActivity for images and videos since it already has a view pager in place which actually handles both media types. Given the newly reworked media flow, we can no longer simply replace all calls and use PreviewImageActivity for everything.

To address these issues, I would suggest to merge the PreviewImageActivity and the PreviewMediaActivity into one combined activity.

I would estimate a workload of approximately one week to implement this feature.

I found out that, when having photos and videos mixed in a folder, swiping from a photo to the next photo, videos are getting skipped completely.

As having photos and videos mixed is something completely normal (e.g. in a folder full of vacation media), I'd love to be able to swipe between all supported types of media without skipping the other types.
