Lag on start of playback and between tracks.

Open L33TX43RT opened this issue 12 years ago • 12 comments

I've just just installed Emplexer. So far, I like what I see. However, I have a few issues to address...

  1. Lag on start of playback in audio and video. It seems it takes around 30+ seconds to start a movie, or even an audio file. Plus, the same amount of time to switch between audio tracks. Is there something in the settings I can tweak to resole the issue?
  2. Is cover art cataloging going to be featured Emplexer for this program in music? It seems as though only a basic list is available, under Music.

Other than that, I'm satisfied with the performance, even being able to playback high bitrate MKVs, via Wifi-N wireless connection.

L33TX43RT, About the lag, do you use http connection type? If yes try to use nfs or smb the lag will be much smaller. Cover art will implemented but i need to do more tests with that.

Thank you, for your quick response...

I've tried all connection types, and get the same result. Turns out it's not the connection type causing the problem - the Emplexer client simply takes a while to decode FLAC files. When I switched to a folder with a MP3 files, the MP3s decode much quicker. Would it be possible to tweak the FLAC decoder?

Also, I've realized few of other bugs. CUE files don't work for FLAC. The YouTube age restricted videos get an Error (500) message in Spanish...?

Plus, all CNN content flickers after a while of "Connecting...", and shuts down Emplexer.

L33TX43RT,

The emplexer only creates an m3u playlist with the songs of a directory and sends it to the default player of the dune, unfortunately after that I have no control.

Some questions: Flac direct pla  the dune, the delay happens? Out of plugin for flac CUE files are supported? If so you need to do something special?

About restricted videos on youtube, please send me the link. About CNN, apparently the problem is in the plex channel, you could test there in another client (mac, windows, ios ...) and see if it works, and if possible, simulate the problem and send me your emplexer emplexer.log?

I wound up batch converting my FLAC files to M4A files, which decode a lot quicker with Emplexer. However, I present another issue...

My DVD ISOs aren't working, under Emplexer. They are working fine, outside of Emplexer. I got a "Format Not Supported" error. Do you need the log? If so, how do I send it to you?

L33TX43RT,

Do you tried use emplexer over smb/nfs? Do you use your PMS in a windows machine?

Please send-me your emlexer.log.

I've used both NFS and SMB, on a Windows 7 Home Premium machine. Attached is the most recent emplexer log. Thank you.

I'm not convinced that I'm even connecting to NFS or SMB properly, just connected via HTTP. I would purposely give the wrong login and password information to Emplexer for SMB and the wrong IP address for NFS, and it would still connect.

in settings, you can select Dune player, then when you have started a movie, click enter. In the top of the window, it should say http://, smb:// or nfs:// in the address to the movie.

L33TX43RT,

You are correct, has a VERY annoying bug that only happens with PMS on windows https://github.com/newloran2/emplexer/issues/58, this will prevent emplexer to use smb or nfs and makes it always use http, this is the origin of your lags.

I'm dealing with this bug with high priority, so I have the solution I post here.
