Expected execution time
How long is the script supposed to take? I ran it using the Jurassic Park example, and it took several minutes for 5 movies. I am now running against a list of 500 Hallmark movies and I am over 45mins in... (unless its broken or frozen.)
It got to the part where it enumerated the list from tmdb, and its been sitting there ever since
My plex collection is just over 2,000 movies, but my DB is on SSD storage with modern CPU and RAM specs
theres a big performance boost update in the works please hold on a day or so until its ready
Were you using the new Plex movie agent? In any case, the latest release should have some performance improvements. Expected execution time is difficult to estimate because there are so many variables, such as library size, list size, agent type, whether your plex server is under load, external apis, etc. I don't think that it should take 45min, though.
I've got a little over 2.6k movies, plex db is on nvm ssd, 10 collections setup and the script runs in about ~2-3min
There was a performance release as part of 2.8.1, so perhaps give that a try as well.
Interesting, I seem to be having issue when mapping movies, It takes over 2 hours just to finish that step. There are no errors as such it just takes forever.
I'd need to know a little bit more about your setup. If you are using the new Plex movie agent, you can try renaming the guid db (should be in the config/db directory and named after your config file with _guid.db appended) to force the guid db to be reinitialized. The initial db might not have been populated completely, so your subsequent script runs are having to do lookups against TMDB or Trakt.
Looks like the script did me a favour! My DB was all kinds of screwed up it appears.. Created a new plex install then reran the script.. Ran like a charm! Thank you 👍
