Status bar shows braces and non-English characters for certain SMuFL characters

Bug description
The problem seems to be that the font itself being used for these characters isn't in accord with the characters got from the SMuFL list. And it's been around since whenever (somewhere in mid 3.x days)
One way to fix it could possibly be to have these characters in the status bar replaced with font tags, using a font that works with these symbols.
Steps to reproduce
- Staff Text
- Use special characters entry and apply the smaller version of accidentals (video shows)
- Result has curly brace and some other characters

Additional context
This is actually a regression from "way back." 2.3.2 for instance didn't elicit this behavior - it even omitted some characters from showing at all in status bar 3.6.2 on my system extends the vertical size of the status bar to become super large if a brace appears, whereas 4.x doesn't resize.
