Add vertical lines to create symbols like brackets as shown below.
It is fairly common to use bracket-like lines in a condensed staff to clarify different voices:
And for keyboard instruments, the bracket-like lines can also be an alternative way to indicate which notes should be played by which hand, especially where the texts l.h. and r.h. are not clear enough on their own:
Although there already exists bracket and L-shaped "half-bracket" symbols in SMuFL, it is impossible to resize or adjust the thickness of them, bringing much awkwardness in practical use. Adding a set of specific linear symbols to do so would be more ideal.
Problem to be solved
I would expect the vertical lines to behave like the now-existing Bracket arpeggio in the Arpeggios & Glissandi panel, with its height automatically adapts to the selected note intervals, and they should be able to be placed either left or right to the selected notes/chord. In addition, they should act like other horizontal linear symbols (e.g., Pedal lines), allowing users to choose between different line types and hook shapes, as well as modifying their styles, hook height, and thickness.
With the features mentioned above, vertical lines can also be very useful in contemporary notation or adding text annotations, thus providing great convenience and creativity.
