Uptime Monitor and Server Status

What's the difference between the two? Aren't they the same?

Came here from the DB Tech youtube channel. I think there is a subtle difference. Uptime can monitor via external pinging of tcp ports and stuff, Server Status requires the endpoint to run an "agent software" package.
