add mcalan aka alan for mac

The default version of alan did not work on my mac (MacOS 10.14.5).

This can be largely attributed to differences in how the regular expressions are interpreted under the expr and sed commands. See also issue #1

I basically copied the alan file into a new file called mcalan and updated several lines of code so it now works for macs.
