IJG JPEG 9 already has a logo, libjpeg-turbo also. You just published the version 2, and a project gets more and more popular. That users remember the brand is needed...

Depends -- does mozjpeg intend to have a page/site?

I think it may be valuable even if mozjpeg doesn't have a site by itself. Products using mozjpeg could use the logo to advertise their compression capabilities (similar to how HTML5 logo is used).

@pornel I am planning to write a PS plugin which integrates mozjpeg and jpeg-recompress and could make use of it in its UI. That is, unless you want to write one... I see you already have written a few PS plugins :wink:.

@dwbuiten Go ahead, I'll be adding it to ImageOptim first :) My logo-design skills peaked here: https://github.com/rflynn/imgmin/commit/3e22ffa84c2ae5bfff04b43d4a913ec1aa7aaa4c so I don't think I can help much with this issue :)

If we're going to get a logo we'll probably have the same folks that do other Mozilla branding stuff help.
