Support ISO/NFC

Is NFC considered for desktop platforms as well or just mobile android devices? Windows for example detects the yubikey as a pc/sc smartcard (pretty much the same via USB and an NFC reader) and does allow the spec's APDU interface via the smartcard (winscard) api.
