Thanks @mastizada! We are working on Community Branding Guidelines and are doing some first pilots already. Once we have something in place we can tackle yours as well.

Hi @mastizada, I was reading the Azerbaijan country profile BBC, really beautiful. I understood some things and I have questions:

  • "Fire land". Is it something that makes sense to the country? Is it something that makes sense today?
  • Can you tell me something that represents your country? Anything beyond the fire?
  • You have more ideas of logos to inspire us and to better understood the background?
  • Colors? Flag colors?

I had some ideas for the icon: pixelated fire, illustration of the 3 towers (on the image), illustration of country map, illustration of flag, initial of country's name + internet protocol ://.

Hi @barrosgeraldo, thanks for helping)

  • "Fire Land" or "Land of Fire" is one of the interpretations of the word "Azerbaijan" and Zoroastrianism was major religion in country (warship of fire). As Azerbaijan has rich oil and gas resources there were places with not-ending fire and such places became temples (current active temple is Ateshgah - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ateshgah_of_Baku). Also its promoted in international events as a symbol of the country. The building in the background that you made, is called "Flame Towers", it has flame shape and also fire animation.

  • I think its definitely is oil. Oil fields of Baku are in use since 9th century (Nobel brothers and their oil company in Baku, first offshore oil drilling and etc.). Mud volcanoes are also popular. For last few years, Zaha Hadid's Center (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heydar_Aliyev_Center) became very popular. Found such an article: http://www.wanderlust.co.uk/planatrip/inspire-me/lists/ten-interesting-facts-about-azerbaijan?page=all

  • Detailed information for flag and its RGB color map is available here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_Azerbaijan

So, yeah, mostly country is associated with fire (fire in cave dated to 1.5 million years old, warship of fire) and oil. As for community, we call ourself "Mozillaz" with "az" at the end (country code) and domain is mozillaz.org - but we couldn't find any idea for the logo.

I will wait for more information about branding for communities and I will back to this since we have a good background but no clear guidelines for communities.

We started using this as a favicon: black-logo white-logo

Currently there is black, white and transparent one, thinking about using it in website. It looks ok for a favicon, no idea for logo yet. It might be terrible as I have no idea in design and created using Gimp.

PS. These are flag's colors.

What's the status here? @mastizada if the community has accepted a logo, please close this issue. Thanks!

@kindavishal the image above is for favicon, a simple temporary thing created in Gimp for social network accounts and website. But we still don't have a logo and not sure about the quality of this favicon.

@mastizada so, the logo is still needed. Well, let's just keep this open then.
