Default sorting options

Is there a way to specify the default sorting option for a particular view, eg Assets, so that most recent are always shown first/uppermost?

Not that I know of (neither in Craft vanilla or with CP Sortable Custom Columns) – sorry! I'm going to add the "Enhancement" label to this issue, might be a good feature to add (somehow).
