I think it would be more appropriate display filesize next to cursor position (and selection size) 
The Output window should remain opened if it was opened by the user. vscode-filesize is not the only extension that can display information there.

It would be a nice to see the amount of lines as well as a size of the current file. It's particularly convenient when you have a large file.
When I load files over 50 MB, the size does not appear in the status bar. Is it supposed to have some kind of file size limit to work?
Would be nice a nice enhancement in my opinion to have it work with images as well if possible.
