Drive management tools

Open Koischappi opened this issue 3 years ago • 6 comments

Summary

It is known that Misskey Drive has a set capacity limit, some users having already reached the quota in the past. However, the Drive interface is very barebones as it stands, lacking features that have already been introduced by the custom emoji panel (search functionality, multiple select...) and would help users deal with the capacity limit. It would also help users use the Misskey Drive as a cloud storage system.

Suggested tools

  • Search bar
    • Filters (could work like e-mail client search bar filters, wherein one adds parameters such as from:)
  • Multi select tool
  • Auto-delete files that are older than a certain threshold (eg 6 months)
  • Sort by (A-Z, data of creation, last modified...) (@[email protected])

I'd like to add a suggestion / request of my own to this:

  • Being able to get a list of notes of yours in which you have used a drive file as attachment in.

@robflop see #8911

Auto-delete files that are older than a certain threshold (eg 6 months)

I think if there is multiselect and the ability to sort by creation date or something like that, this would be mostly solved.

I'm not sure how useful it is and/or if it is a good idea to automate it because it might come with some pitfalls if notes still have such files as an attachment. I think if automatic deletion were to be implemented it would be more appropriate as part of or together with #7302.

I agree with @Johann150 if we get the ability to sort and filter the drive items and perform operations on multiple items in the drive, an automatic delete isn't a must have feature then.

I think an automatic delete might be useful for a lot of small or personal instances that don't have that much space or can't afford S3. It's not really a must-have indeed, but it could be nice to have it around for the people who need it.

Just posted this issue/suggestion over at calckey, then I read this conversation and I'd like to leave this here too, as IMO this would be even better than automatic delete after a certain period of time: https://codeberg.org/thatonecalculator/calckey/issues/9133
