Wrong Data Matrix Encoding

If I try to convert this string 764x 2.0-R20-TIALN into a data matrix code the result is wrong and my code scanner returns 764x 2.0-R20K%UJP$5O instead of 764x 2.0-R20-TIALN. But if I put a "Space" before the string it works fine. Can someone confirm this, or better, has a hint for me how to solve this?
