No error window popped in cmd terminial when missing msvcr110.dll

Open keelung-yang opened this issue 2 months ago • 2 comments

Hi, This error window is not popped when I run a .bat file in which call php.exe finally.

I take many hours to fig out whats going on, until I try it in a real Command Prompt and then get this dependent issue.

So, VSCode ate this error messagebox in cmd terminal. Such error window should be shown to help users to find the root cause of issues.

Hi @keelung-yang, can you provide more details regarding your environment setup and specific steps to reproduce the issue?

Hi @kycutler , Here is an example: Rename python314.dll to python314--.dll firstly, and then run python command in Command Prompt, VSCode cmd terminial and VSCode bash terminial.

We don't have any control over this AFAIK unfortunately.

@Tyriar, I don't know whether the python314--.dll example misleads you or not.

Actually, I'm developping TC364 AUTOSAR of Infineon, Infineon is still using an old php, v5.6.30. And php5 depends on MSVCR110.dll, VC2012 runtime library.

When I call Infineon's DemoAppBuild.bat in the cmd terminal of vscode, it always failed to build. It took me many hours to check our modifications of DemoApp source code. I cannot find the root cause until I run DemoAppBuild.bat out of cmd terminial of vscode! The ErrorMsgBox of missing .dll shown!

Since Infineon AUTOSAR software is proprietary software, I cannot share it here. So, I use the python314--.dll example to help you to re-reproduce this issue.

Actually, missing dll is a common issue of windows, since not all vc runtime libraries are installed by default.

So, I cannot understand why this issue is out-of-scope of vscode.

I'm using vscode and vscode eats error info which should be reported to me, one of vscode users, on the other hand.
