"Stop" button not working

  • VS Code Version: 1.101.2
  • OS Version: Sequoia 15.5
  • Feature (e.g. agent/edit/ask mode): agent
  • Selected model (e.g. GPT 4.1, Claude 3.7 Sonnet): Claude 4
  • Logs:

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Not sure

The agent kept going down the wrong path I keep hitting stop button but it does nothing it keeps just adding a bunch of stuff editing files. I can hit pause but can not press 'undo' on the files it changed. Can take pause back off but it goes back into Working... Is now just stuck on working can't stop, can't undo changes.

It's really damn annoying how there is often absolutely no way to stop the agent! I can click stop for minutes and absolutely nothing happens and the agent just keeps going.

Please fix this bug or give the users double the number of requests.

Just to add to this (same issue on my end), the pause button does seem to work — and if I edit or cancel the request, that also stops the process.

Yes, this is a big issue. I have tried re-installing vscode and the issue persists.
