The extension is smuggling extra Azure-related extensions during installation/updating
When installing AI Toolkit for Visual Studio Code ( ms-windows-ai-studio.windows-ai-studio), some extra Azure-related extensions (non-required) are also installed. The package is smuggling unneeded Azure extensions via its EXTENSION PACK field:
The following extensions are installed automatically, even if they are not needed (Users can uninstall them manually without causing any extension dependency issues.)
Thank you for contacting us! Any issue or feedback from you is quite important to us. We will do our best to fully respond to your issue as soon as possible. Just adding that I had the same issue as well. Provide an option to opt out or have a button to install optional extensions once you open it after first install.
Hey @XuehaiPan @ibbobud Thank you for bringing this to our attention. AI Toolkit and Foundry extension are packed together to offer both local and cloud experience of building AI apps.
We will evaluate ways to provide optional installations, but for now, if you do not use Azure please uninstall the other extensions.
