Without direct access to host machine files, my application must use Samba. It works fine using the name of the host machine. Unfortunately if the host machine does not have a network connection when WSA first starts, then the connection is not possible.

I would like the Hyper-V network to allow connection to the host machine without a network connection.

Describe alternatives you've considered

Alternatively, I would prefer WSA to allow direct access to the host machine's filesystem.
