Contrast is poor in code samples on Ubuntu 18.04

This is probably a combination of the font and color but I'm having a little trouble making out the text at 100% zoom.

Making it WCAG AAA compliant would be a good start:

Not sure what happened but it looks fine now under Ubuntu 18.04 😕 (same as mac). Feel free to close.
