Same thing happened to me, @lollar1337.

Depending on the watch that you have, the first versions of wearable apps usually have all the code inside. You can find the in apkmirror. You'll have to install both old versions for the plugin and the wearable app.

E.g: For galaxy watch 4:

Plugin: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/samsung-electronics-co-ltd/galaxy-watch4-plugin/galaxy-watch4-plugin-2-2-11-21080651-release/

Find a wearable app within the same time it was release.

I have tried this solution for my Watch 6 Classic, downloaded Wearables 2.2.57.23092861, released July 31, 2023 and the Watch6 Plugin 2.2.13.23072051 which was released July 30, 2023 -> The watch was released July 26th, 2023.

Unfortunately I get a popup saying Im required to update the app which would download the latest version.

I would deeply love for this to get support.

"WearOS" which is the proprietary Google OS for smartwatches is not supported by microG.

However I guess Samsung is using Tizen for that - I have no personal experience with Samsung smartwatches on microG, by default I'd assume they do not work as I have never heard from a microG user that uses them.

Personally I use a Pebble smartwatch with microG. There are also some other projects that work to link smartwatches to devices without Gapps, the most popular of which is "Gadgetbridge" which you can find on F-droid.

Tizen did work with microg. Had a 1st gen Galaxy watch and everything worked.

I just tried to connect the watch 7 and it wants to update the play services. Does this work for anybody? I really do not want to install the play servicesπŸ˜•πŸ˜•

EDIT: I get a connection now, but the configuration stops at about 50%. After a restart the phone is shown as connected in the wear OS app, but the watch is still in the initialization process.

Im in the same boat, The GW7 won't connect no matter what I try . I keep getting a message that I need to update the Google Play Services ( Watch 7 plugin and Google Maps)

Any success on your side? I still can't use my watch 😒

Nothing , The closes I got was to pair it on another phone and initiate the "transfer" process on my Huawei. But that fails as well. GBox, Gspace and MicroG all fails and tells me I need Google Play Services for the W7 plugin πŸ‘Ž

@DaVinci9196 Can you maybe have a look on this? πŸ™

Also having this problem with the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7. I would dearly love to use this with my /e/OS Fairphone 5, but like the others above, it starts to pair in the WearOS app on my phone, gets to 50% and hangs. Restarting the app shows the watch as connected on my phone, but the watch itself says pairing failed and prompts me to reset.

Is there a chance this will work anytime soon? It sucks having a smart watch which I can't use 😒

HyperCriSiS avatar Dec 08 '24 17:12 HyperCriSiS

I will pay 100 USDT to whoever makes the Galaxy watch 7 work with MicroG in the next 6 weeks. Anybody joining my bounty?

HyperCriSiS avatar Dec 14 '24 00:12 HyperCriSiS

I'll double it. - an additional $200 bounty for the MicroG framework needed to pair modern, current-gen WearOS devices and get basic functionality - echo phone notifications, provide media controls, run WearOS apps, etc.

Is there a place we can post this to make it "official" or draw more attention?

doctorgaul avatar Dec 20 '24 05:12 doctorgaul

Ill add another 100$, so we'd be at 300$.

Maybe this dream can be reality soon :)

OP needs to add the "bounty" label and the amount of dollars to be given, in the issue title

NullCode1337 avatar Feb 28 '25 16:02 NullCode1337

@thatjade please add the "bounty" label

realPrix avatar Feb 28 '25 16:02 realPrix

HyperCriSiS avatar Feb 28 '25 16:02 HyperCriSiS

unfortunate I was searching Google for a solution related to avoiding Google XD but alas, I'll also add $50 to the bounty for anyone who can get the Galaxy Wearables app working with microG

NullCode1337 avatar Feb 28 '25 17:02 NullCode1337
