Immediate response to buttons pressed

Hello all, How can I configure digital buttons to trigger the interrupt routine as fast as possible? With the single press it is triggered after the button is released. A workaround for me would be to configure a long press event with a very short timeout (10 ms?). Is it the best way to implement it or are there more "elegant" ways to achieve this behavior?
