Is this gem still needed for sending email asynchronously when we use device > v4 and Rails 4/5 project with SideKiq? Thanks

No, you just need to override #send_devise_notification method, as described here

It's 2022 and this gem somehow still works with Devise 4.8 and Rails 7. :)
