Describe your issue

Wihance can't read Czech letters from system settings, visible in Power Plan setting, no letters ěščřžýáíéďťľň showed correctly. (Upper part of "Winhance.png" screenshot)

What is a difference between options "Optimize: Show thumbnails instead of icons" and "Customize: Always show icons, never thumbnails" ??? (Middle and lower part of "Winhance" screenshot) Both options do same thing, disabling/enabling preview of file (pictures, PDF, etc) and shows only icon of associated app.

Conflicts with few really important settings with O&O ShutUp10++, see screenshot "O&O ShutUp10++", which app do correct thing???
Maybe you can add similar (yellow) info to settings applied only in Windows 10 like for Windows 11 only settings to make it even more clear, even there is Windows version filter, not a big deal ;-)
Big thank you comes to you for your great app of course!!!

Hey there and thanks for your feedback!

I'm busy working on Localization (Translations) for some languages at the moment, they will be included in one of the future updates. I will take a look at this specifically and see how I can make it better. Thanks for reporting it.

All I can say is that these two settings are separated in Windows too, and they are not controller by the same registry entry, here are the settings in Windows:
"Optimize: Show thumbnails instead of icons" - Found in Windows under: Advanced System Settings (System Properties) -> Performance Settings -> Visual Effects - It is controlled by the UserPreferencesMask registry value.
"Customize: Always show icons, never thumbnails" - Found in Windows under: File Explorer -> File and search options -> Folder Options (View Tab) - It is controlled by the IconsOnly registry value
This is the way Windows has it and that is the way I added it too.

At this time, I have not compared the exact keys O&O uses compared to Winhance so I can't give a straight answer here. I would guess that O&O probably has more telemetry blocking than Winhance in its current version (v25.11.18) so it might be better to trust it over Winhance at this time.
Maybe you can add similar (yellow) info to settings applied only in Windows 10 like for Windows 11 only settings to make it even more clear, even there is Windows version filter, not a big deal ;-)
I'm not exactly sure what you mean here, when the Windows version filter is toggled off, it does show a yellow ribbon on the settings already.
If Winhance is run on Windows 10 and the version filter is toggled off, it would show a ribbon like that saying the setting only works on Windows 11. If a setting does not have the ribbon, it means it is applicable to the version of Windows it is running on.
Hope this clears up some of the confusion :)
Hi, thank you for such a quick answer, I did not expect it ;-)
I'll start from last part now, here is screenshot of what I see, maybe that yellow info box show only opposite OS, like in my case. I have Windows 10, so it shows me only Windows 11 box? As I see, you are running Windows 11, do you see both Windows 10 and Windows 11 boxes? Again, not a big deal :-)

To middle question I'll put just my reaction... Microsoft WHY??? 😄
And to first part, thx for honesty (or maybe careful, diplomatic answer:)), I did as you say ;-)
Disabled all tasks in Task Scheduler, applied fixes from O&O, restarted my PC, checked O&O again, no changes of settings anymore:
Also, I'm not sure if I will be the best person to translate, but if you plan to do a Czech translation, I can help by checking the spelling and correcting any grammatical mistakes ;-) Don't do this with AI, AI and Czech language aren't friends, especially if we talk about Windows terminology..
EDIT: disabled Edge removal task too, because I live in EU, and we can uninstall Edge officially, because even Microsoft is afraid of EU here ;-)
No problem.
I understand what you mean about that specific setting "Search in Taskbar" that is different on Windows 10 and Windows 11. Yes it only puts a ribbon or "This setting only applies to Windows 10/11 Only" message to the setting that is NOT for your version of Windows. But I understand what you mean now, I can make this a little better and clearer.
The tasks in Task Scheduler, like BloatRemoval.ps1 OneDriveRemoval.ps1 EdgeRemoval.ps1 those are only related to uninstalling applications, it does not change any settings in Windows (like the telemetry settings for example) - Winhance doesn't have a scheduled task that changes users settings (only the very first time the user is created, it applies settings and registry changes, after that, the user is free to change the settings as they want, except if it is a group policy key)
As for the translation(s), the way I'm doing it is with AI initially, but then I will need the community to correct any mistakes, but at least this way, the language file will already be created with all of the strings of text, and the user can only change the items that are wrong.
Ou me stupid, who didn't even read names. Rookie mistake. Now I fully understand 😄 Fingers crossed with finding right code page, character code page or how to call it, I have never understood all these Unicode, Windows-1250, ISO Latin 2, etc things ;-) Also I remember I had 3 installations Windows 98 because of this coding crap, English, Czech and Russian (I speak less or more all these languages). Thx your time and I'm ready to help with translation and grammar check. EDIT: and finger crossed with finding, where is a problem between Winhance and O&O ShutUp ;-)
Hey @dim0n1 are the issues fixed now regarding the Czech text?
I was thinking of keeping this issue open until I had a look at the O&O settings too.
Hi, Czech text is imported from Windows settings, from power plans, properly now, reopening because of O&O. my bad ;)
Also, probably tomorrow I'll try to do some corrections to Czech translation, coz as I expected, AI did used some words which gives a sense, but we don't use them in Windows/PC terminology ;)
TBH AI and Czech language is pain in the "deep space" (I don't want to swear here), when I tried it many times with prompts to help with some settings in windows, I ended with regular google after :D
Great to hear that the Power Plan thing is fixed now.
Yeah I only used AI to do the "heavy lifting" but I expect many issues with the translations themselves in the different languages, relying on the community to make the corrections. :)
Thanks
When I saw, how many languages you added, I know, that you created a lot of work for yourself :D, will help with Czech...
BTW Britec09 did some video about Winhance, he used it to create autounattened install of Windows 11... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nphUCnjJc7U
