Cannot load notebook (this is such a random issue for me)

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open Keepnote
2. Go to "Open notebook"
3. error occurrs

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The expected output is for my notebook to load. Instead, I see an error message 
that says it cannot load my notebook/

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
I am using keepnote 0.7.8, as well as the latest on one Kali Linux.

Please provide any additional information below.

I have tried following suggestions online with replacing node.xml with 
"<node></node>" but this does not fix it. Now, I have just deleted the .nbk 
file as well as the node.xml file in the root folder. I have all the other 
node.xml files from the subdirectories, but I seriously need to get this fixed.

I am not sure what could have caused this issue. I can't even load the notebook 
from my backup drive from Friday.

If I could just somehow import my subdirectories into a new notebook, I'd be 
fine. Blah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Created a new notebook, cut and pasted the folders from the corrupted notebook 
into the same folder as the new notebook, and fixed this issue.
