Control + enter should enter ASCII newline

If you press control + enter, you get a new line, but the line numbers stack on top of each other.

Reproducibility: Always MacOS: 14.2.1 Tested on commit: cd77c2d164466506b064fa6208bae31a18608224

Thanks! Unicode newline characters aren't handled properly.

I will fix this, but I assume that this is not an urgent issue. Let me know if it is for you.
