Here's a neat suggestion: MELPA hacks this by presenting a list of package names in JavaScript, so the search form amounts to filtering the list. Eh?

Still only works for Java files. As a workaround, users have to disable inheriting foreground colors from the scheme (e.g. First, Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth, ... headers for Markdown).
