tab/group context menu: new tab

Open boldcompany opened this issue 4 years ago • 3 comments

Description

Use cases:

  • Sometimes the sidebery sidebar is cluttered and there is no space to double-click; and moving cursor to the top to click the panel icon is a slowdown.
  • Sometimes user wants to create a new child tab of a group/tab which is currently unloaded without loading that tab.
  • Anytime the user is already pointing at a tab, it is more convenient to be able to right-click and quickly add a new tab.

Request: Please add "new tab" to the tab/group context menu.

By default, the new tab would appear as a child of the currently selected tab/group. Config options would allow the user more granular control of new tab positioning.

My instinct when I want to create child tabs is to right click on the tab/group in question and find a "new child tab" context menu item. This would be ideal

Any progress on this?

To add to the original request:

It would be helpful if the user could generate a new tab anywhere in any tab tree by right-clicking at that location to make a "New tab here...", which functionality could be configured to (a) follow a set of rules similar to the existing tab rules or (b) to simply place a new tab at that location.
